Peace of mind home testing
versus legal testing
The main difference between a peace of mind
home paternity test and a legal paternity test
is with the collection of the samples. With a
home test you can collect the samples with a mouth
swab yourself. With a legal test you must go to
a qualified doctor to have the mouth swab taken,
and photo identification and other verification
measures are taken in order to confirm that the
samples have come from the donor stipulated.
It is not possible to upgrade from a peace of
mind home test to a legal test after testing has
commenced, so if you will ultimately require a
legal test, it would be best to do this from the
beginning.
The mother must be included in a legal test,
unless there are extenuating circumstances (please
contact our office to discuss).
